Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Midelt
Departure from Fes in the morning. Travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains and stop in Ifrane, famous for its clean streets and alpine atmosphere. Continue to the cedar forest area, where you may see Barbary macaques, then drive on to Midelt. Dinner and overnight stay in Midelt or the surrounding area.

Day 2: Midelt – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Merzouga
After breakfast, continue south through changing landscapes and enjoy panoramic views over the Ziz Valley. Pass through Erfoud and arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon. Relax near the dunes and enjoy dinner and overnight stay in a hotel near Erg Chebbi.

Day 3: Merzouga – Khamlia – Nomads – Camel Trek – Desert Camp
After breakfast, enjoy a desert excursion around Merzouga. Visit Khamlia village, known for its Gnawa music, and discover nomad areas around the dunes. In the afternoon, ride camels into the Sahara and enjoy the sunset over Erg Chebbi. Dinner and overnight stay in a desert camp under the stars.

Day 4: Desert Camp – Rissani – Erfoud – Merzouga
Wake up early for sunrise in the dunes. After breakfast, return by camel or 4x4 and continue to Rissani, one of the oldest desert towns in the region. Explore the market and local life, then return to Merzouga for another relaxing night near the dunes.

Day 5: Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley
After breakfast, leave the desert behind and drive through Erfoud toward Todra Gorge. Enjoy free time to walk through the impressive canyon before continuing to Dades Valley. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel or riad.

Day 6: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou
After breakfast, travel through the Valley of Roses and continue to Ouarzazate. Visit the famous kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Dinner and overnight stay in the Ait Ben Haddou or Ouarzazate area.

Day 7: Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
After breakfast, continue your journey across the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n'Tichka pass. Enjoy scenic stops along the way before arriving in Marrakech in the afternoon or evening.

What You Need to Know Before You Travel

• This route is more relaxed and complete than a shorter 3, 4 or 5 day trip.
• You will have more time to enjoy Merzouga and the desert area.
• Temperatures can be warm during the day and cool at night, especially in the desert.
• Bring comfortable clothes, sunscreen, sunglasses and a light jacket.
• Take a small bag for the camp and leave the rest of your luggage in the vehicle.
• Camel trekking is included, but a 4x4 transfer to the camp can also be arranged.
• This is an excellent option for couples, families and private travelers who want a slower desert journey.
